Adrienne Mathilde Bellmer, Age 57, passed peacefully at her home in Garden City, NY.

She fought a courageous battle against cancer for the past several years, living beyond all initial prognosis and having a full and vibrant life until the end.

She is survived by her parents, William and Mathilde Bellmer of Garden City, her partner of 17 years Scott Brown, her adorable little poodle mix Cody, her sister Angelique Bellmer Krembs and her brother-in-law David Krembs, her niece/nephew Sophia and George Krembs of Scarsdale, NY, and her cousins Michael, Sylvan and Richard Avari, of Garden City.

Adrienne was born and raised in Garden City, graduating Garden City High School in 1984. She loved working as a child care provider, and completed several certificates of continuing education in Child Care Training from Molloy College and the International Correspondence School. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2019, and despite a difficult prognosis, she courageously fought the illness for four years.

Adrienne was an amazing person, always keeping busy and living life to the fullest. Adrienne delighted in her backyard garden, complete with rose bushes, perennial displays, and an active fish pond. Every day she would walk her dog Cody around her neighborhood near Stratford School, enjoying chatting with neighbors she would meet along the way. She was an excellent baker, especially renowned in her family for an outstanding strawberry pie, her signature pineapple upside down cake, and truly the best ever chocolate chip cookies. She enjoyed many creative outlets including colorful jigsaw puzzles, making latch hook pillows, painting and woodwork. She always had a book in progress, which she enjoyed reading and listening to with audio at the same time. She loved to eat, and was very particular about the food served at any family gathering. Her absolute favorite was a Persian dish of cherry rice and chicken, which was her standard request as celebration after every successful cancer treatment, along with her mom’s famous banana cake.

Though her life with us feels too short, it was well lived; she was fiercely independent and persistent to find her own path, and created the life she wanted, on her terms.

Her family is especially grateful for all her friends who brought joy to her life, sending her puzzles and flowers, sharing laughs and gripes, and sharing her delight in everything her dog Cody would do.

Funeral Mass to be held at St Joseph’s Church in Garden City, NY on Saturday April 29 at 9:30am, at 130 5th Street, Garden City, NY 11530.
